Why Version Control Exists?
Most developer have heard about version control but not everyone understands why it exists or what is the plus point of having a version control in their system.
So in this blog we will have a clear Idea that why does version control exists? Which are the problems it solves? and as a developer why do we need to use this?
The first question is - what is version control?
So the version control is a system for managing changes to the files, enabling collaboration, tracking revision and recovering the earlier version of code if needed.
For a moment, Imagine six people are working on a single project simultaneously without the version control system. There is no clear direction or management to define who is responsible for which part of the project. By the time everyone finishes and tries to merge their work, nothing fits together. The entire project breaks down cause lack of coordination. They overwrite each other’s work and it becomes hard to Identify as there is no record of their work.

Now, Imagine the same six people working again, but this time with a version control system. With clear direction and proper coordination the project comes together perfectly as everyone knows their part of the job clearly.
If the project breaks and faces any error, Version Control makes it easy for them to Identify and fix it quickly.

So now we can have a clear understanding about Version Control System.
Challenges Without Version Control
Overwriting each other’s code.
No history of the changes.
Difficult to Debug
How Version Control Helps
Collaboration without conflict.
Clean Record of every changes.
Easy rollback to stable version.
Version Control works much like a pen drive. It maintains the consistency of a project across different system and keeps a record of every single changes that has made to that particular project.
As we are in the modern era of development. Multiple developers often work on a same project, requiring frequent updates and changes. Project moves across environment from development to testing to production. So to manage all this work effectively, as developer we need a common tool that can track the changes, maintain a record (Date&Time,Author,Changes) and ensure that the project remains productive and useful for everyone.
So did you Get the Idea?
